Biodiversity Workshops
To maintain biodiversity and ecosystem services, it is not sufficient to try to protect wildlife and habitats just within a few isolated parks and protected areas; we must also create wildlife habitat in the heart of human-dominated landscapes – within our backyards, our schools, our gardens, our communities. To share successful techniques for maintaining and enhancing backyard biodiversity, the Lagoon Society will be running a series of workshops around the Sunshine Coast.
With all of our community working together to enhance habitat for wildlife, we can offer lots of opportunities for the flora and fauna on the Coast. Upcoming workshops will include gardening for wildlife, creating a backyard pond, enhancing habitat for amphibians and reptiles on your property, creating a hummingbird or butterfly garden, and traditional uses of native plants. Keep an eye out in your local newspaper or on our website for more details.
