The Wetland Restoration Committee

Michael Dr Michael Jackson, Chair and Project Director, has a wealth of experience in conservation, wetland ecology, educational instruction, writing and project management as well as sound business acumen. As the managing director of a book business in central London and as a production manager in theatre and televison, he has the ability to work together with large teams of people to achieve a common aim. He is currently a Research Associate with Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia and runs his own wetlands consultancy that specialises in habitat restoration and natural methods of mosquito control.
John Dr John Field, is a Science Instructor at Capilano College Campus in Sechelt and a well-known local natural history expert. He is experienced in course design and programming, nature guiding and field instruction. He leads many courses and has a strong ability to bring out the most in his students.
Tony Tony Greenfield, Birdwatcher, conservationist and naturalist. A well-known bird expert who is familiar to every reader of The Coast Reporter newspaper. Tony is also President of the Sunshine Coast Natural History Society and The Sargeant Bay Society and runs a nature-based touring company.
David David Stiles Dave is a field biologist who has spent the past decade working on wildlife research and conservation projects. He has worked with a great diversity of animals including amphibians, birds, bats, insects, and small and medium sized mammals. Dave is skilled at organizing, coordinating and motivating large teams of researchers, volunteers and interns.
Neil Dr. Neil Meikleham, is an environmental chemist working for a Sunshine Coast based consulting firm that specializes in the development of biological treatment systems, such as constructed wetlands, to remove contaminants from wastewater, soil, and sediments. He is interested in combining natural design, simple living skills, holistic thinking and mind-body awareness into human systems so that they become more environmentally restorative and less destructive.
Jim Jim Ross, Iris Griffith Centre Construction Manager. Jim has been coming to the Sunshine Coast since the 60’s and moved here permanently for the second time in 1992. With over 65 million in construction experience, he still enjoys a challenging project. An avid technologist he programmed an integrated construction software system which he sold commercially for many years. The integration of soft tech and high tech with regards to energy conservation is an avid pursuit. For the past two years he has been taking courses in software programming for a variety of uses including the design and construction of a prototype boat.
Suzan Suzan Essiembre, Suzan brings to the team many years of experience in administrative infrastructure, financial planning, construction and environmental auditing. As a former Certified Environmental Inspector, she conducted numerous environmental site assessments on residential, commercial and industrial properties. She was a former Personnel Manager for a large Canadian law firm and an Internal Audit Manager for a Canadian Property Investment Corporation where she managed a huge investor portfolio. Suzan was on the Board of Directors for the Peace and Environment Resource Centre where she played an important role on the Fundraising Committee and locally she has helped in the protection of the Halfmoon Bay Creek property for salmon restoration.
Aldo Aldo Cogrossi, Society Executive Director, has been a steward of the Lagoon and its wildlife since 1993. He is a keen bird watcher and natural historian and has worked in rehabilitation facilities. He teaches children birdwatching skills and bird house building at the local school in Pender Harbour. Aldo and his family are generously placing conservation covenants on a large area of property surrounding the Lagoon to create the Ruby Lake Lagoon Nature Reserve.
