Research and Ecological Monitoring

Long term ecological and environmental monitoring will be initiated to follow regular annual schedules, building valuable long-term datasets that will greatly enrich our knowledge of the local environment. Research studies based at, or coordinated from, the field station, and linked to courses at universities, schools and colleges, will offer considerable benefits in increasing understanding of our natural surroundings and cultural heritage. The educational facility will provide valuable opportunities for hands-on experiences that will increase awareness and help young people in particular with their future career prospects. The Lagoon Society is very grateful to the generous contributions of the many private individuals, businesses, foundations, community groups, corporations, and government agencies that make up our many sponsors. We gratefully acknowledge the financial assistance of the Province of British Columbia.
