The Steering Committee

In addition to the Society Directors, the Project Steering Committee also includes:

Anne Anne Clemence, President, Pender Harbour and District Wildlife Society. A long time resident of Pender Harbour and an active sailor, naturalist and supporter of the Ruby Lake Lagoon Nature Reserve and Field Studies Centre. The Centre is to be named in memory of the founder and former president of the PHDWS, Iris Griffith.
Tony Tony Greenfield, Birdwatcher, conservationist and naturalist. A well-known bird expert who is familiar to every reader of The Coast Reporter newspaper. Tony is also President of the Sunshine Coast Natural History Society and The Sargeant Bay Society and runs a nature-based touring company.
Dave Dr Dave Bates, Environmental Impact Assessment. Dave is an environmental consultant based on the Sunshine Coast. He brings 25 years of experience working in fisheries and aquatic biology for First Nations, government, industry and community groups. In addition to consulting, Dave teaches courses in stream ecology and aquatic ecosystem rehabilitation and until recently, was the senior instructor and co-ordinator of the Fisheries and Forestry Department at Capilano College in Sechelt. Dave is conducting the Environmental Impact Assessment for the project.
Gillian Dr Gillian Kydd, Gillian is the co-founder of the Open Minds/Campus Calgary Program. This award-winning program allows teachers to move their classrooms to such locations as the Calgary Zoo, Glenbow Museum and Calgary Science Centre. The program allows students to be immersed in a site for a week as catalyst for long-term interdisciplinary study at school. The program has flourished and this year close to 6,000 Calgary students and their teachers will spend a week at one of ten sites. Gillian earned a Ph.D., an M.Ed., an Early Childhood Diploma, and a B.Ed. (with distinction) from the University of Calgary and also holds a B.Sc. (Microbiology) from the University of British Columbia. Her educational portfolio reflects her devotion towards the sciences and her dedication to teaching.
