Society Constitution

The Ruby Lake Lagoon Nature Reserve Society is a non-profit society and registered charity incorporated in April 2002 (Charity Number 85237 7530 RR0001).


1. The name of the society is The Ruby Lake Lagoon Nature Reserve Society (hereinafter referred to as "the Society").

2. The purpose of the Society is the furtherance and promotion of conservation and education, and in particular:

  • a) to preserve and enhance the natural habitat and wildlife of the Ruby Lake Lagoon Nature Reserve

  • b) to develop and manage the Iris Griffith Field Studies and Interpretive Centre as a community resource that will:

    • i) enable residents and visitors to explore and appreciate the natural wonders and cultural amenities of the Sunshine Coast

    • ii) provide facilities and courses for all ages, including children, university and college students, adult professionals and hobbyists

    • iii) provide interpretive displays and programming to educate about local ecology and conservation issues, foster good stewardship ethics, and promote respect for First Nations history, cultural traditions and heritage

    • iv) provide displays and programming to encourage appreciation of, and participation in, artistic expression related to the natural environment and local and regional landscape

    • v) provide a field base, equipment and laboratory facilities for scientific research and ecological monitoring

    • vi) serve as a model sustainable green building to promote leadership in energy conservation and environment-friendly design

  • c) to undertake long term ecological studies and assist in monitoring the ecological health of the region

  • d) to promote such charitable endeavors or activities, including the acquisition management and disposal of land and interests in land, as may in the opinion of the Society board of directors appear to contribute to the purposes of the Society

  • e) to do all such other things as are incidental or ancillary to the attainment of the purpose and the exercise of the powers of the Society

3. The activities of the Society shall be carried on without purpose of personal gain for its members and any income, profits or other accretions to the Society shall be used in promoting the purposes of the Society. This provision is unalterable.

Bylaws

The bylaws of the Society are those set out in Schedule B to the Society Act.
