Garden Bay Shoreline Clean-up On September 17, 2005, volunteers from the Ruby Lake Lagoon Nature Reserve Society worked to clean-up the shoreline of Garden Bay Lake. Volunteers collected over 100 kilograms of garbage and hundreds of cans and bottles from the shoreline and underwater locations. The event was part of the TD Canada Trust Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup - a national initiative to remove and document garbage littering shorelines across Canada. All items collected during the cleanup are recorded and the data is passed on to the Ocean Conservancy which compiles worldwide results as part of the International Coastal Cleanup.
The Lagoon Society is very grateful to the generous contributions of the many private individuals, businesses, foundations, community groups, corporations, and government agencies that make up our many sponsors.
We gratefully acknowledge the financial assistance of the Province of British Columbia.
