Sweet Cascadia at the Iris Griffith Centre

As Iris Griffith Centre artists-in-residence during the month of June 2007, musical trio Sweet Cascadia created a CD of four original songs called 'Songs for Iris'. The songs were written to complement the Centre itself, and for use in future Lagoon Society programs and special events. While at the Centre, the musicians also interacted with children in Nature School classes, offered songwriting workshops for adults, and celebrated a special public CD release concert. Sweet Cascadia’s music encourages both adults and children to reflect on the wonder of nature, their responsibilities as stewards in their home place and their part in the move towards a sustainable society.

Sweet Cascadia's project was part of the six-month long Natural World: An Artists' Celebration, a partnership initiative of the Lagoon Society and the Sunshine Coast Arts Council, generously funded by 2010 ArtsNow, Spirit of BC Arts Fund, McLean Foundation, Sunshine Coast Community Foundation, and the Aboriginal Arts Development Award.
