Upcoming Lagoon Society Events

MAY 2009

SUNSHINE COAST BIOBLITZ - MAY 23 AND 24
For the second year in a row, the Lagoon Society is pleased to be organizing the
Sunshine Coast BioBlitz. A celebration of biodiversity, a BioBlitz is a 24-hour count of everything that grows, creeps, crawls, hops, flies or slithers. The BioBlitz will take place on the weekend of May 23 - 24, 2009 to coincide with the worldwide "International Day for Biological Diversity" (May 22). The survey will begin at noon on the Saturday and conclude at noon on Sunday. Community members are warmly invited to interact with scientists at the BioBlitz Base Camp and also join them out into the field as they undertake a variety of field sampling activities. The fun, family friendly event will also feature music, food and children's activities.
