The Ruby Lake Lagoon Nature Reserve is a 20 acre reserve featuring a freshwater lagoon and forested acreage on the Sunshine Coast. The current focus of the Society is the operation of the Iris Griffith Interpretive Centre, which houses a variety of interpretive displays and serves as the base for a variety of community and school programs.

To help people get the most out of their visits to the Centre we are starting a new DOCENT PROGRAM.

What does a docent do?
These are volunteers who help acquaint visitors with the Centre and its displays and its history, point out trails, explain the history of the reclaimed wetlands or take visitors down to the lagoon. If you have a particular interest such as birding, botany, mushrooms etc. you could share these but really a love of the outdoors, an interest in people and a desire to do something that in the long run will help educate and preserve the amazing natural surroundings we live in are all you need.

Time Commitment?
Half a day a week or every other week.

What will you get out of it?
Come on your own or with a friend for a partner and share your enthusism for the natural world with others. Be part of a remarkable new venture. Make a difference.

When?
We will have an orientation, get acquainted meeting at the Iris Griffith Centre on Saturday, May 20th at l0:30 am so you can become familiar with the docent role and the site.
